Your journey passes from village to village with plenty of opportunity to interact with the local community so bring along a frisbee, marbles, bat & ball and you’ll make friends very quickly. You may also have the chance to join in with local cultural dancing, visit village schools and experience a culture so very different from your own.

Day 1/Night 1

Namaste and welcome to Kathmandu. You will be met at the airport by your leader who will take you through the hectic traffic to the Fuji Hotel, Thamel in the heart of the popular tourist centre of the city. Kathmandu is an exotic mixture of ancient temples, colourful markets and friendly people. Interestingly, Kathmandu has more World Heritage sites than any other city in the world. After your trek briefing your leader will take you out on the town to enjoy a traditional Nepali dinner, paid locally.

Day 2/Night 2
Flight: 25 mins. Driving: 3 hours. Trekking: 2 hours

There is an early departure for the flight to Pokhara Airport. With a flight time of 25 minutes there are spectacular views of the main Himalayan chain to the north. After arriving in Pokhara you are transferred by private vehicles to Naya Phul and then by 4WD to ascend through the terraced hillsides high above the Modi Khola Valley. There are super views of the fishtail peak, Machhapuchhare, and Annapurna South along the way and after arriving at Kimche (1630m) you will have lunch, paid locally.

In the afternoon you follow a well-defined, path that contours its way through fields of wheat and millet to the village of Ghandruk. Our lodge is located above the main village, in a quiet location, where you enjoy fine mountain views, in particular Annapurna South (7237m), Machhapuchhare (6993m) and Gangapurna (7455m).

Day 3/Night 3
TADAPANI (2450m)
Trekking: 4 hours

It’s an easier walk today as you leave the terraced hillsides and the village of Ghandruk behind to enter oak and rhododendron forest. This is a particularly beautiful part of the trek, as your trail crosses over streams and passes small waterfalls under the canopy of the forest. There are no villages on the trail, but there are a few teahouses at Baisi Kharkha providing welcome drinks and a place to rest. There are fine views of Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7555m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna South (7237m), Machhapuchhare (6993m) and Lamjung Himal (6931m) along the way and you reach your overnight halt at Tadapani in time for lunch, paid locally. The village is perfectly situated to catch some wonderful sunset and sunrise views.

Day 4/Night 4
Trekking: 5 hours

After enjoying the sunrise you initially descend to a small stream and then begin a series of ascents and descents through rhododendron forest that is particularly spectacular during March and April, when the trees are in flower. You will reach Bhantanti, a group of small hotels, for an early lunch (paid locally) before crossing a series of small streams and continuing to climb through forest to reach the open ridges at Deurali (2980m). After a quick tea break you ascend onto a ridgeline, where there are great views of the Dhaulagiri massif, before descending to Ghorepani.

Day 5/Night 5
Trekking: 6 hours

In the morning you rise early to enjoy the sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges from the world famous Poon Hill (3210m). If conditions are clear one can see three eight thousand metre peaks Manaslu in the east, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, as well as a sea of other snow capped mountains. This is a major highlight of the trip and it is really worthwhile making the effort to get out of bed and head uphill by torchlight to experience this magnificent vista. You return to your lodge for breakfast and then make a leisurely start for the descent through beautiful rhododendron forest to Nangethanti where you stop for lunch, paid locally.

In the afternoon you continue trekking through the forest to arrive at the village of Ulleri before a steep descent leads to the Bhurungdi Khola River. Here you cross a small suspension bridge to reach the village of Tirkedunga. After settling into your lodge there is plenty of time to explore the village or perhaps visit the local school.

Day 6/Night 6
POKHARA (850m)
Trekking: 2 hours. Driving: 2 hours

You make an early start to get the most out of the day. From the lodge you follow the valley to the village of Birethanti and onto Naya Phul. Here you board a private jeep for the return journey to Pokhara. You will arrive in Pokhara around lunchtime and after checking in to the Barahi Hotel the rest of the day is free. You have the option of sightseeing, boating on the lake, shopping for souvenirs or you may just wish to relax by the hotel pool. In the evening there is the option to dine out at one of the many lakeside restaurants, paid locally.

Day 7/Night 7
Flight: 25 mins.

After breakfast you are transferred to Pokhara airport for the short flight to Kathmandu. The rest of the day is free for shopping or further sightseeing. Enjoy a final evening out tonight.

Day 8/Night 8

Your trip ends today after breakfast. Your leader will be on hand to assist with your onward travel arrangements and will accompany you to the airport for your departure flight

Why not extend your holiday by an extra day and relax after the trek by the lakeside in Pokhara.
